HCSO said the driver failed to control his speed when he hit the cyclist.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) -- A bicyclist was killed after he was hit by an alleged drunk driver in north Harris County on Friday night, authorities said.
According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a crash involving a car and a pedalcyclist in the 4100 block of Little York Road at about 11:30 p.m.
Investigators said the bicyclist, identified as Henry Neal, was riding his bicycle westbound in one of the lanes of Little York Road. Authorities said Jose Manual Lopez was driving a Ford F150 in the same lane when he failed to control his speed and hit the rear of the bicycle, projecting Neal through the air and landing alongside the road.
Officials said Harris County Emergency Corp paramedics took Neal to the a nearby hospital for treatment. At about 4:25 a.m. on Saturday, Neal was pronounced dead from his injuries at the hospital, authorities said.
Lopez showed signs of impairment, HCSO said, adding he was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated. Officials said the initial charge was when Neal was still alive, and that Lopez now faces a possible upgraded charge once it is reviewed by the Harris County District Attorney's Office.
HCSO said its Vehicular Crimes Division is continuing to investigate the incident.
